Our Story
Policy Solutions Institute Education Fund (PSI Ed Fund) was founded in 2019 after the success of the Energy Transition Act in New Mexico. After this historic victory, the founder recognized this success was due to the diverse voices and coalition members who coalesced around one transformative policy. She also realized a major gap exists in engaging and organizing low income, rural, and communities of color in pertinent environmental issues that affect people’s everyday lives. Thus, Policy Solutions Institute Education Fund was born.
PSI Ed Fund aims to build relationships and engage with non-environmental advocacy organizations, as well as individuals in low income, rural and communities of color. Recognizing that energy policy is complex, yet affects all New Mexicans every day, PSI Ed Fund works with New Mexicans to understand and incorporate issues and concerns in state and local policies.
Policy Solutions Institute Education Fund focuses on implementing energy and environmental policy at the state and local level, with a strong emphasis toward environmental justice, a just transition for fossil fuel workers, and economic development opportunities across the state. We currently prioritize policy development around clean energy initiatives including electrification of transportation, increasing efficiency in buildings, implementation of the Energy Transition Act, and decreasing reliance on fossil fuels.
