Sanders Moore, Founder and Executive Director

Sanders Moore founded Policy Solutions Institute Education Fund in 2019 after the success of working with diverse communities to support clean energy policy in New Mexico. The result became the state’s transformative Energy Transition Act. Moore built a broad coalition including labor unions, civic engagement and community organizations, tribal partners, faith organizations, environmental groups, and others, which demonstrated the widespread public support for a clean energy future for New Mexico. After this historic victory, Moore realized that by continuing to bring diverse partners together, New Mexico could be a national leader on many other issues, including clean energy production, transportation electrification, and addressing in-state oil and gas issues, which led her to establish Policy Solutions Institute Education Fund. 

Moore earned her Master’s in Environmental Law & Policy from the Vermont Law School and her Bachelor’s of Art in Government from Wesleyan University. Prior to founding PSI Ed Fund, she was the director of Environment New Mexico for nearly a decade, leading work to advance clean energy in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, and New Mexico, as well as mobilizing grassroots support for Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks and Rio Grande del Norte National Monuments. Moore began her career at the Georgia Conservancy educating about, and advocating for, clean air to improve public health.
